# 111 women, 15 Kansas towns: McPherson's second menopause film night points to more to come

McPherson Center for Health drew 111 women from 15 Kansas communities to the McPherson Opera House on Saturday, Aug. 29, for a menopause documentary and a panel with three of its own providers. According to the center's press release, most attendees were from McPherson. The film, "[The M Factor 2](https://www.citizenjournal.us/mcpherson-center-for-health-hosting-the-m-factor-2-movie-screening-and-ladies-night/)," explores perimenopause — the transition years before menopause, when hormone levels fluctuate and symptoms begin — and women's health. Panelists were Sarah Buchanan, an OB/GYN and certified Menopause Society practitioner; physician assistant Melisa Kieffer; and registered dietitian Suzanne Fleming, all center professionals, who answered audience questions on symptoms, treatment options and available resources.

The August event followed the [original "The M Factor" screening](https://www.citizenjournal.us/mcpherson-women-break-menopause-silence-at-opera-house-event/) at the Opera House in January, and the center billed the sequel as an expanded version of that program when it announced it in June. Carol Fickes, chief of provider and clinic operations at McPherson Center for Health, said in the release, "We want women to know there are resources and providers available to help them through this stage of life." The release says additional educational opportunities are being discussed based on the response to the two events, but names no date, format or topic.
